Temple starting QB a game-time decision

Temple’s quarterback situation is still unsettled. At least that’s what the Owls are saying, publicly.
Owls coach Steve Addazio said during Monday’s MAC Football Coaches Teleconference that it will be a game-time decision. Junior Mike Gerardi and sophomore Chris Coyer are battling for the position in Thursday's season-opener against Villanova at the Linc.
Don't be surprised if Gerardi gets the nod, considering his has more experience. But perhaps to keep Villanova guessing, the first-year coach doesn't want to name a starter just yet.
If not, one would assume not knowing who will start three days before the season opener would be problematic.
But ...
"Actually, I'm really excited about where we are right now in this process," Addazio said. "I feel terrific about our preparation. I think we got a few guys that are really ready to roll. We feel that we have great depth and certainly feel great about our preparation."
Gerardi started the final five games last season. He completed 93 of 156 passes (59.6 percent) for a team-best 1,290 yards to go with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
The Parsippany. N.J. native’s best game came in a 28-10 victory at Kent State on Nov. 6, 2010. He completed 21 of 29 passes for a career-best 386 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Coyer completed his only two pass attempts for 47 yards while playing in five games last season. The Oakton High (Va.) product redshirted as a freshman in 2009.

If you have more than one starting QB, you actually have none.— Bigbirch- The QB status has a twist. Temple's coaches can prepare a QB for the NFL. Scott Loeffler and Addazio taught the best. Temple actually had 7 QB's and moved Fitzpatrick to wide receiver, which suprised me. Honey Fitz was my favorite because he is fast, savy, exciting. Whatever Addazio and Loeffler want to do is fine with me.— damnels
