Temple loses member of football family

The Temple football family lost a sibling this week.

Frank Massino, a former defensive lineman and assistant coach, passed away at his Lafayette Hill home on Tuesday. He was 69.

Massino was a member of the Owls’ varsity team from 1961-63. As a senior, he was named team captain and honored as the team’s best lineman that season.

In 1964, when his playing career was over, Massino served as an assistant coach on the freshman football team.

He came back to Temple to serve as the head coach of the Owls freshman team from 1969-72, before becoming the varsity team’s assistant linebacker coach from 1973-1977. Massino had another assistant coaching stint at Temple in 1979.
