Temple eyes Military Bowl

According to multiple sources, Temple’s athletic department wants to play in the Military Bowl.

The source added the Military Bowl or the New Mexico Bowl appear to be the likely destination if things don’t change.

The New Mexico Bowl will be played on Dec. 17 at University Stadium in Albuquerque, N.M. The Military Bowl is on Dec. 28 at RFK Stadium in Washington.

Temple played in the Military Bowl two seasons ago when it was called the Eagle Bank Bowl.  Back then, the Owls drew 20,000 fans to the game.  A source said that turnout is a major reason why Temple wants to return to Washington.  The source added that it is unlikely that a lot of Temple fans will travel to New Mexico.

However, another source said the New Mexico Bowl believes having Temple will boost the game’s television ratings.
