The Temple men’s basketball team defeated Central Michigan, 86-74, Saturday at the Liacouras Center.

The Temple men’s basketball team defeated Central Michigan, 86-74, Saturday at the Liacouras Center.

Junior guard Khalif Wyatt finished with 23 points and a career-high seven assists as the Owls (4-2) won their home opener. Sophomore reserve guard Aaron Brown added a career-high 21 points and a season-high five rebounds in what was Temple's 23d consecutive home victory.

The Chippewas (4-3), on the other hand, had their two-game winning streak snapped.

Guard Trey Zeigler and forward Andre Coimbra led Central Michigan with 22 points apiece.

The Owls were without starters Scootie Randall (left knee) and Micheal Eric (right kneecap).

Temple travels to Toledo on Wednesday to cap a three-game stretch against  Mid-American Conference teams.
