Temple received its 18th football commitment for the Class of 2012.

Brendan McGowan, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound guard at Marian Catholic High School, gave an oral commitment Wednesday evening to play for the Owls.

McGowan, who will be a senior in the fall, is regarded as one of Pennsylvania’s top returning high school linemen, according to the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association.

Temple was the only Division I school to offer him a scholarship. He was, however, receiving recruiting interest from Pittsburgh.
