Report: Addazio spoke to Rutgers AD

The Asbury Park Press, citing sources familiar with the coaching search, reported on its website that Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti has spoken with Temple football coach Addazio about the Scarlet Knights vacant heading-coaching position but has yet to meet with him.

That report came several hours after the ScarletReport.com reported Addazio was expected to meet with Rutgers officials Friday.

A Temple spokesperson denied ScarletReport.com's report.

"He has been with a recruit from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and now he's in his office," the spokesperson said.

Addazio, however, wasn't made available for comment. The spokesperson said the Temple first-year coach declined the Inquirer's interview request.

"We don't respond to rumors," the spokesperson said.

Addazio is said to be Pernetti's top target to replace Greg Schiano, who resigned Thursday to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
