No surprise here. Bernard Pierce is the Mid-American Conference East Division player of the week.

The tailback set a Temple single-game record and tied a Mid-American Conference record with five rushing touchdowns in Saturday’s 38-7 victory over Maryland.

Pierce finished with 149 yards on 32 carries.  The junior scored on touchdown runs of 1, 9, 4, and 44 yards on the Owls’ first four possessions of the game. His fifth score was a 13-yarder that gave Temple a 38-0 cushion with 10 minutes remaining.

This is his second  MAC  East player of the week honor this season.

The 6-foot, 218-pounder also leads the nation is scoring ( 18 points per game) and  touchdowns (12).  Pierce  ranks 10th nationally in rushing with 124 yards a game.
