Pierce named ECAC offensive player of the year

Temple junior tailback Bernard Pierce, who will enter the NFL draft, was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference's offensive player of the year.

The 6-foot, 218-pounder was joined on the ECAC team by Owls senior offensive tackle Pat Boyle and senior defensive end Adrian Robinson.

Pierce rushed for 1,481 yards despite missing one game with a concussion, playing two others with a hamstring injury, and being taken out in the third quarter of a number of game because Temple had huge leads. He set a single-season school record with 27 touchdowns.

Robinson finished with 52 tackles, a team-best 6.5 sacks, an interception and a blocked kick. Meanwhile, Boyle started all 13 games on the offensive line.
