Pierce breaks Temple's rushing touchdown record

Temple tailback Bernard Pierce broke the Owls' career rushing touchdown record with 8 minutes, 5 seconds left in the second quarter against Ball State.

The 4-yard touchdown run was the junior's 40th rushing score of his career. Pierce scored his 41st touchdown on a 1-yard rush on the Owls next possession. Paul Palmer held the previous school record (39) back in 1986.

Pierce's 1-yard score was his third touchdown on consecutive drives. His first score was from 2 yards out on the Owls' second drive of the game.

His third score gave Temple a 28-0 cushion.
