At this moment, Temple couldn't care less about facing Villanova.

The Owls are only focused on becoming a better team. Game planning for the season-opening Mayor’s Cup contest against Villanova can wait.

“That’s not even in our hemisphere right now,”  Temple coach Steve Addazio said. “That’s probably at least a week away ....

“We kind of know what we want to do. But we won’t call it a Villanova practice yet. No chance.”

The Owls are preoccupied with getting better production out of their receivers and developing depth on the offensive line before the season opener.

The game against the Wildcats on Aug. 31 at Lincoln Financial Field will mark the fourth consecutive and last scheduled Mayor's Cup matchup.  After losing the first one, Temple won the past two contests against the Football Championship Subdivision program.

Villanova, however, owns a 16-14-2 all-time series advantage.
