Owls drop out of national rankings

Temple dropped out of the national college basketball rankings.

The Owls (24-7) were ranked 21st in the Associated Press and No. 24 by ESPN/USA Today coaches polls before losing an Atlantic Ten tournament quarterfinal game to Massachusetts on Friday.

Temple is the No. 5 seed in the Midwest Regional in the NCAA tournament and will open with a second-round game at the Bridgestone Arena at 9:50 p.m. Friday in Nashville, Tenn.

The Owls will face the winner of Wednesday's first-round game between California and South Florida, the winner emerging as a 12th seed.
