Owls boast largest NFL class in school history

POSTED: Wednesday, July 27, 2011, 2:50 PM

Time will tell if the former Temple players will remain on NFL rosters. But for now, they get the satisfaction of making history.

Seven rookie free agents and two draft picks -- Muhammad Wilkerson and Jaiquawn Jarrett -- make up the largest class to sign with the NFL in school history.

The free agents are wideout Michael Campbell (New York Jets), tight end Vaughn Charlton (Pittsburgh Steelers), linebacker Peanut Joseph (Green Bay Packers), defensive tackle Eli Joseph (Green Bay Packers), linebacker Amara Kamara (Kansas City Chiefs) and offensive linemen Colin Madison (Baltimore Ravens) and Darius Morris (Houston Texans).

Wilkerson, a defensive tackle, was selected by the Jets in the first round of April’s draft. Jarrett, a safety, was drafted by the Eagles in the second round.

The best part of this story is that there are still other players that will most likely end up being picked up by NFL teams.

Charlton was redshirted after his sop0hmore year while DiMichelle was hurt, played one midiocre year at QB, and moved to tight end his senior Year. Bad for the team, bad for the player. Bad coach bad coach. Looking forward to the Adazzio Era.

damnels, yeah, Al Golden was awful. I sure missed the 1-10 days of Jerry Berndt, Ron Dickerson and Bobby Wallace. Charlton got beat out by better QB's. How was his demotion and position change bad for the team?
