Owls athletic director: 'I've already been contacted by between 16 to 20 candidates'

Temple believes it won’t have a hard time replacing Steve Addazio.

After two seasons on North Broad Street, he accepted the head-coaching position at Boston College on Tuesday.

“We were in a far different place when Steve Addazio came in, and we are in a farther place now since he’s been there,” Owls athletic director Bill Bradshaw said. “So we are optimistic. I’ve already been contacted by between 16 and 20 candidates, which is an all-time record in my career for any position this soon.”

Bradshaw said maybe that is contributed to emails and voicemails.

“But there were 16 to 20 candidates or representatives of those candidates that left a message to me already from current head coaches in Division I to offensive, defensive coordinators in the NFL,” Bradshaw said. “So I have every assurance and confidence that this will be a meaningful search for Temple and the university, and a great opportunity for someone to come to Temple.”

New York Giants assistant Matt Rhule's name has been mentioned as a possible replacement. Rhule was an assistant at Temple.

Addazio went 13-11 in two seasons with the Owls.

The Great Owls, the Great Golden, the Great Addazio. They never even seriously competed for a MAC championship. They could not even win the WEAK East division of the MAC. After another year or so of this high powered Temple football, things will be so bad that the MAC won't take them back.

"All people who are who've never heard of Temple"
Right. Such a clear, well-constructed sentence. I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Ted attacked someone instead of giving his daily rallying cry for Temple football. Even he knows the program is screwed.

it the administration had any brains they'd contact former Penn State coach Tom Bradley who wanted the job two years ago. Besides knowing every high school football coach in PA, he likely could convince some current Penn State players to transfer.

As a Temple grad, I disagree with Bradshaw that the program is farther along since Addazio took over. The team went backwards this year and wasn't helped by Addazio continuing to use a QB who can't throw a pass of more than 5 yards.

Played a lot of first year players, just like Golden did. These kids can grow together just like they did under Golden. Also, who says Bradley is not one of those who called?
