D'Avanzo dropping Temple for Cincinnati a storyline

I wonder if Nik D'Avanzo will attend Temple's game against Cincinnati on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.

If so, it will be interesting to see if the Archbishop Curley (Baltimore) senior defensive end wears Cincinnati's school colors, red and black.

That's because D'Avanzo backed out an oral commitment to Temple on Oct. 22 to commit to the Bearcats. And his decommitment wasn't a surprise.

This is what D'Avanzo told the TerrapinTimes.com on Oct. 17, days before he switched to Cincinnati:

"I love all the Temple coaches and the school, but the location ... I'm not sure if I fit there," D'Avanzo said."I'm a country boy, and Temple is in the middle of the city. I went there three times thinking I'd adjust and learn to like it, but I'm just not feeling the area right now."

At that time, the two-star recruit by Rivals.com was just waiting to receive a scholarship offer from Cincinnati. He received one several days later.

Massachusetts is the only Football Bowl Subdivision program to offer D'Avanzo a scholarship.  His other offers are from Football Championship Subdivision schools, Hampton, James Madison, Monmouth and Old Dominion.
