Temple tailback Montel Harris was named the Big East offensive player of the week on Monday.

He had 24 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the Owls’ 37-28 victory over South Florida Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field. He amassed 74 of those yards and both of his touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

His second score, a 35-yard run, gave the Owls (2-2, 1-0 Big East) a nine-point advantage with 1 minute, 3 seconds remaining.

Temple freshman linebacker Tyler Matakevich was named to the Big East weekly honor roll. He had a game- and career-high 15 tackles –including 12 solos – in his first career start.
