Owls picked to place ninth out of 10 teams

The Temple Owls were picked to finish ninth out of 10 teams in the inaugural American Athletic Conference Preseason Media Poll.

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Temple Owls were picked to finish ninth out of 10 teams in the inaugural American Athletic Conference Preseason Media Poll.

The Owls finished the 2012 season 4-7. First-year coach Matt Rhule has 14 returning starters from last season’s team.

Louisville, led by Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, finished atop the poll. Cincinnati finished second (2), and Rutgers finished third.

Memphis, which finished 4-8 last season, finished last in the voting.
