Maryland athlete becomes Temple's 23d commitment

Samuel Benjamin of Mount St. Joseph High (Md.) gave an oral commitment Monday to play football at Temple.

Benjamin, who will be a senior in the fall, is the Owls 23d commitment for the Class of 2012. Temple is recruiting the 6-foot, 190-pounder as an athlete.

Benjamin, who also had a scholarship offer from Marshall, made his announcement while visiting Temple’s North Broad Street campus.

"I knew beforehand Temple is where I wanted to be; it didn't take much to convince me to commit," he told MDHigh.com. "This visit was just icing on the cake."
