What was I thinking?

A week ago, La Salle was ranked third behind Temple and St. Joe’s on my City 6 ballot. My reasoning:  the Explorers couldn’t win a big game.  Or so I thought.

La Salle destroyed that myth not once – but twice – last week by upsetting ninth-ranked Butler and then 19th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth.

So Explorers’ fans please forgive my prior skepticism. I won’t make the same mistake, again. Nor will I discount Villanova’s back-to-back victories over then fifth-ranked Louisville and then third-ranked Syracuse.

With that said, La Salle is No. 1 in the ballot I submitted before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline. The Wildcats moved up two spots to No. 2.  Temple dropped two spots to No. 3 even though it won the head-to-head competition against Villanova.  And to be honest, that Dec. 5 victory seems like so long ago.

Here’s my entire City 6 ballot:

1. La Salle (14-5)

2. Villanova (13-7)

3. Temple (13-6)

4. St. Joe’s (11-7)

5. Drexel (8-12)

6. Penn (3-15)
