Brown to leave Temple

Aaron Brown will leave Temple and the Owls basketball program at the end of this semester.

The sophomore shooting guard informed Temple coach Fran Dunphy of his decision this morning. Dunphy granted the St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.) product his release.

"I felt like I haven’t been given the opportunity," said Brown, who averaged 6.4 points and 14.6 minutes this past season. "And I think that it is just time to move on.

"You know I worked hard. ... I did everything they asked, a hard worker."

Brown hasn't decided where he’ll transfer to. If he had his wish, Brown would play for his former high school coach Dan Hurley, the new head coach at Rhode Island. However, that is unlikely. Brown would have to sit out the next two seasons due to transferring within the Atlantic Ten Conference. Temple won't become a Big East Conference member until the 2013-14 season.

"I'm going to leave all of my options open," he said.

AB is agreat guy and good player. It's just unfortunate that he got caught behind so many talented guards at Temple. We wish him the best.

Look he must still think he is good enough to make the pro's. Reality check get an education and use basketball to get a good job because your not going to the NBA.

He makes it sound like he got screwed, "I did everything they asked". Well, the facts of life and competition is that coaches/managers play the guys who they feel best give them chances to win. Either the kid isn't good enough or he's giving up too easily. Not knocking the kid but 'working hard" doesn't "entitle" anyone to anything. Pick a school a step down and be a star, but keep working hard.

Agree with stoneman. Temple can now use his spot for a Big East caliber big man. But I wish him luck with his future plans. Go Owls

This lifelong Temple BB fan is disappointed by this news. I thought AB showed considerable skills and I thought with increased PT next season he would have been a weapon, especially shooting from distance.

Wish he had been patient enough to wait for "his time" as Scootie, Ramone, Wyatt et al. had. Dunph is going to stay with his Seniors and there was no room this season while Juan and Moore were here. But the next 2 seasons?? I feel he would have been on the Court early and often.

Best of luck to him (though I still hope he pulls a Brunson and changes his mind!!).

North Jersey kid so I'm thinking if he wants to start immediately, he ends up at a MAAC school. Maybe CAA (Drexel)?

He should have played more in the USF debacle.
