Folks realize that Matt Brown and Brandon McManus are two of Temple’s most important players.

Perhaps that’s why the seniors are named to the  College Football Performance Awards 2012 preseason watch lists.

Brown, a running back, has been named to the CFPA all-purpose watch list. McManus, a placekicker/punter, is on both the placekicker and specialist lists.

Brown had 155 carries for 916 yards and six touchdowns last season. The 5-foot-5, 170-pounder was also a standout special teams’ player.

He returned 28 kicks for 703 yards (25.1 yards-per-return) and a touchdown. The Baltimore native also returned 18 punts for 182 yards (10.1 yards-per return).

McManus made 16 of 22 field-goal attempts and had a punting average of 45.8 yards. Eleven of his 46 punts landed inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.
