McManus, Matakevich earn MNYFWA honors

Temple placekicker/punter Brandon McManus and linebacker Tyler Matakevich were recognized by the Metropolitan New York Football Writers’ Association on Thursday.

McManus, Matakevich earn MNYFWA honors

Temple placekicker/punter Brandon McManus and linebacker Tyler Matakevich were recognized by the Metropolitan New York Football Writers’ Association on Thursday.

McManus earned the organization’s national specialist of the week for kicking Saturday’s game-winning 29-yard field goal in the Owls 17-14 overtime victory at Connecticut. The senior also averaged 42.6 yards on eight punts.

Matakevich, a true freshman, earned national-rookie-of-the-week honors after finishing with a game-high 19 tackles in the win.
