Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw told members of the Owls football team Wednesday that ‘We will see what happens’ in regards to hiring Matt Rhule as the next football coach, according to sources.
Bradshaw added that he can’t promise anything and will evaluate all of the candidates. The Owls began a national coaching search to replace Steve Addazio, who resigned Tuesday for the head-coaching job at Boston College.
During the meeting at Edberg-Olson Hall, the players informed the athletic director they wanted, Rhule, the New York Giants assistant offensive line coach, to be Temple’s next head football coach. He was the Owls co-offensive coordinator and tight end coach at Temple before joining the Tom Coughlin Giants NFL staff in March.
Quarterback Juice Granger, backup quarterback Chris Coyer, tight end Cody Booth and defensive tackle Levi Brown all stood up at the meeting and gave separate statements, according to sources.
