The American Athletic Conference, of which Temple is a part of, has entered into a long-term partnership with the Military Bowl, sending one team annually to play in the game, beginning with the 2014 season.
The AAC will send one team annually from 2014 through 2019.
“We are proud to announce this partnership with the Military Bowl,” said league commissioner Mike Aresco. “Our objectives when choosing bowl partners are to find quality matchups in desirable destinations attractive to our teams, coaches and fans. The Military Bowl not only meets these objectives, it embodies the core values and identity of our reinvented Conference. We admire the work of the DC Bowl Committee in supporting the USO and our men and women in uniform. We look forward to creating memorable experiences in the National Capital Region for our student-athletes and fans.”
The Military Bowl will be played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. – the home of future AAC member Navy – beginning this year. The first five Military Bowls were played at RFK Stadium in Washington.
Temple appeared in the second game in the bowl series, falling to UCLA 30-21 in Dec. 2009.
The Military Bowl’s partner is Northrop Grumman.
