Akron game a homecoming for Loeffler

Scot Loeffler could serve as Temple’s tour guide this weekend in Akron.

That’s because Saturday’s 6 p.m. Mid-American Conference opener against Akron at InfoCision Stadium will be a homecoming for the Owls offensive coordinator.  Loeffler is a former resident of Barberton, a suburb of Akron.

The 36-year-old played quarterback at Barberton High School and Michigan.

The Owls first-year assistant served as the Florida’s quarterback coach the previous two seasons. He came to Temple after former Florida associate head coach Steve Addazio was hired as the Owls head coach in December.

Loeffler also had quarterback coaching stints with the Detroit Lions (2008), Michigan (2002-07) and Central Michigan (2000-01).
