Addazio makes case for Temple football

If you have been reading The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Mike Jensen, you know that Temple has been mentioned as a possible ‘Plan B’ option for Big East expansion.

So what does Temple’s football team bring to the table that warrants a Bowl Championship Series  (BCS) conference invitation?

I asked Owls coach Steve Addazio that during Thursday’s taping of “Owls Insider with Steve Addazio.”   Temple is a member of the Mid-American Conference.

“I think it is not my role to comment on conferences.  As I said, I love the MAC and we are in the MAC and we are proud to be in the MAC conference."

But the coach also added:

“So we play in a great venue.  We play a tremendously great challenging non-conference schedule.  We, a year ago, beat the Big East champion [Connecticut]. We went toe-to-toe with one of the elite programs in America [Penn State] down to the final seconds of the football game."
