Ahkeem Smith is probably the happiest guy on Temple’s roster. A position switch will do that.
At the start of training camp, the 6-foot, 215-pound junior was listed as a contender for the backup tailback position. But, in reality, Smith wasn’t going to see much playing time.
That’s because Bernard Pierce and Matt Brown will get most of the carries.

The days of having to scan the radio dial are over for the Temple faithful.
The Owls and WPHT-AM (1210) reach a multi-year deal to broadcast every men's basketball and football game, beginning in the 2011-12 season.
“We are excited to be able to not only continue, but strengthen our relationship with WPHT,” Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw said in a statement. “This deal enables fans in the greater Delaware Valley and beyond the ability to follow Temple athletics on one of the strongest commercial radio stations in the country.”

Temple quarterback Chester Stewart and cornerback Kee-ayre Griffin are suspended for Thursday’s season-opener against Villanova for a violation of team policies.
Owls coach Steve Addazio wouldn’t disclose why they are suspended. And Temple declined to make the players available to the media's interview requests.
“I’m not going to talk about it,” Temple coach Steve Addazio said during Monday’s media luncheon. “So don’t ask me any questions about it.”

Temple’s quarterback situation is still unsettled. At least that’s what the Owls are saying, publicly.
Owls coach Steve Addazio said during Monday’s MAC Football Coaches Teleconference that it will be a game-time decision. Junior Mike Gerardi and sophomore Chris Coyer are battling for the position in Thursday's season-opener against Villanova at the Linc.
Don't be surprised if Gerardi gets the nod, considering his has more experience. But perhaps to keep Villanova guessing, the first-year coach doesn't want to name a starter just yet.

Temple coach Steve Addazio has been extremely tight-lipped in regards to naming a starting quarterback.
The one thing we do know is that Jalen Fitzpatrick is definitely out of the running.
The freshman, who was recruited as a dual-threat quarterback, lined up at slot receiver during Saturday’s scrimmage.
