Last week, Temple played an inexperienced Villanova team. Now, the Owls (1-0) are preparing to face an injured Akron squad.
The Zips (0-1) will play without offensive tackle Jarrod Pughsley (quad), linebacker Matt Little (foot) and cornerback Bill Alexander (collarbone) for the second consecutive game. Akron will make decisions on the availability of linebacker Troy Gilmer (ankle) and tailback Broderick Alexander (hamstring).
Gilmer was injured in last Saturday’s 42-0 setback to Ohio State. Broderick Alexander missed the Buckeyes’ game.

Scot Loeffler could serve as Temple’s tour guide this weekend in Akron.
That’s because Saturday’s 6 p.m. Mid-American Conference opener against Akron at InfoCision Stadium will be a homecoming for the Owls offensive coordinator. Loeffler is a former resident of Barberton, a suburb of Akron.
The 36-year-old played quarterback at Barberton High School and Michigan.

I thought it was a logical question, considering Temple is sponsored by Under Armour.
So towards the end of his Tuesday press conference, I asked Owls coach Steve Addazio his impression of the alternate uniforms Maryland unveiled Monday night against Miami. Yeah, the ugly ones with Maryland’s state flag on the helmets.
“You want my honest answer?” Addazio initially said. “I don’t care. Honestly, Keith, all I really care about and want is for [Temple right guard] Wayne Tribune to rock off the ball and hit you so freaking hard, and you get knocked back three yards. All that other stuff I’m not really interested in.”

Temple is the first college to offer a football scholarship to Dhameer Bradley, a junior wideout at Red Lion Christian Academy in Delaware.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder told Rivals.com that offer came after his camped at Temple this summer.
Bradley is also receiving interest from Maryland, Miami, Penn State, Syracuse and Connecticut.
He attended Thursday’s Temple vs. Villanova Mayor’s Cup game and was on hand at Monday’s Miami vs. Maryland game.

Temple first-year coach Steve Addazio said before his team's season-opener with Villanova that teams drastically improve from Week 1 to Week 4.
With that said, the Owls beat the Wildcats, 42-7, in what appeared to be a mistake-free victory.
On Tuesday, Addazio talked about where he thinks the biggest improvement must be at in Week 2 against Akron.
