A victory over St. Joseph’s would enable 22d-ranked Temple to finish with its second undefeated Big Five campaign in 24 seasons and sixth overall outright city-series title.
The Owls (22-5, 11-2 Atlantic 10, 3-0 Big Five) have already clinched at least a share of their 26th Big Five title in the 57-year history of city-series play.
Considering Temple’s 78-60 victory in the teams’ previous meeting, one would assume Temple shouldn’t have in problem in Saturday’s night matchup at Hagan Arena.

It’s no secret that Atlantic Ten Conference commissioner Bernadette McGlade wants Temple to remain a league member.
But she’s not naive.
The lure of playing in a Bowl Championship Subdivision conference is a major drawl and something her league can’t compete with.

If Temple gets an invitation to play football in the Big East, the expectation is that the Owls will find a way to leave the Mid-American Conference before the start of the football season, according to league sources.
“If West Virginia can figure out a way to get out of the Big East, what makes you think Temple can’t get out of the MAC?” a source said Thursday morning of the Owls playing in the Big East next season.
Discussions between the Big East and Temple, regarding the Owls’ joining the conference, are hitting the final stages.

'Best' and 'Worst' awards from Temple vs. La Salle game
My look at some of the best and worst performances and moments from Temple’s 80-79 overtime victory over La Salle on Wednesday at the Tom Gola Arena:

Alonzo Lewis was an inspiration to Fran Dunphy.
So much so that the Temple men’s basketball coach talked about the deceased Big Five Hall of the Famer following Wednesday’s 80-79 overtime victory over La Salle at Tom Gola Arena.
Lewis, a former standout player at La Salle and legendary coach at Chester High, died tragically on Tuesday night due to a car accident. Hours earlier, Dunphy sat with him at the Big Five Hall of Fame banquet.

Folks on North Broad Street will tell that 22d-ranked Temple is finally receiving national respect. And they’re right.
Despite their dominance, the Owls didn’t receive a national ranking until Monday.
But Temple better not let the national attention go to its head.

Temple has offered Ryne Rankin, a junior linebacker at Orland East River High (Fla.), a scholarship to play football.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder also has an offer to play at Cincinnati.
He’s also receiving recruiting interest from Penn State, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Louisville, Duke, Ohio State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee and Central Florida.
Rankin finished with 189 tackles, seven sacks, a defensive touchdown and caused eight fumbles last season. He is a Class 8A all-state selection by the Associated Press

Joe Giunta is returning to North Broad Street.
Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw announced Tuesday that Guinta will be the Owls' senior associate athletic director for sports administration, starting March 8.
He has been Cabrini's athletic director and director of recreation for the past four years. Prior to that, Giunta spent five years as the Owls' associate athletic director for sports administration.

ATLANTIC TEN POWER RANKINGS
Here are my Atlantic Ten power rankings for the week of Feb. 20
1. Temple (21-5, 10-2). I would say winning 10 straight games by an average margin of 13.9 points make the 22d-ranked Owls the team to beat.
