Owls announce additions, shuffling of staff

Temple has decided to go public.

The Owls confirmed what was previously reported by announcing Monday evening that former Boston College assistant coaches Ryan Day and Kevin Rogers are new to the staff.

Day, Boston College former wideouts coach, is Temple’s co-offensive coordinator and wideouts coach. Day will share offensive-coordinator duties with Matt Rhule, who will also remain the tight ends coach.

Rogers, who was Boston College’s offensive coordinator before taking a leave of absence, is Temple’s associate head coach and quarterbacks coach.

The Owls also announced responsibility changes to their staff.

Running backs coach Tyree Foreman takes over Temple’s recruiting coordinator position that was held by Rhule last season.  In addition to coaching inside linebackers, Sean McGowan is the Owls special teams coach. He replaces former wideouts and special teams coach Zach Smith. Smith resigned both posts in December to become the wideouts coach at Ohio State.

Scot Loeffler was the Temple’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before resigning last month to become the offensive coordinator at Auburn.
