Foodies, cake lovers and chefs of all sorts turned up for the Let Them Eat Cake Competition benefitting City of Hope at The Merion of Cinnaminson, NJ. Prizes were awarded in six categories, including Best Tasting, Best Movie Theme, Best Artistry, Best Student Design, Best Overall and People's Choice.

Christie Weldon, Chad Weldon and Matt Reimann of West Chester took home the prizes for Best Taste and People's Choice awards after the peanut butter mousse cake crafted into a cheese platter design came to Chad in a dream. Chef Rebecca Craig and assistant Corinne Jones of The Art Institute took home the prize for Best Student Cake with their champagne cake made of peach puree, vanilla bean Bavarian and coconut Swiss buttercream.

Nearly 700 guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner and dancing at the American Cancer Society's 10th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer gala at the Hyatt at the Bellevue.

The event honored former Drexel President Constantine Papadakis (1946-2009) as an exemplary person and master innovator for forging a new path for the university. The initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fund-raising activities, and advocacy programs.

This year's committee chairs were Ree Dunphy, Judy Martelli, Rene Flint, Suzanne Beers, Lisa Booth, Betsy Hummel, Bryan Klingerman, Mike McCuen, Caitlin Ryan and Cynthia Weiss.

Bela Shehu and Melissa D'Agostino, two Philadelphia designers held the SURFACE Viaducts of Fashion Fundraiser at CITY SPACE, Saturday, April 5, 2013 in support of the Reading Viaduct project. The event aimed to unite the fashion world with the idea of public open green space. 
The philosophy behind the event was told through an exhibition by Julia Blaukopf based on her recent photographs of the Reading Viaduct, which is an old elevated train track built in the 1890's that transects three miles of diverse and rapidly redeveloping neighborhoods just north of the traditional boundary of Center City. Julia Blaukopf's work focuses on visual storytelling through photographs, mixed media works, large-scale fabric scrims, and many other mediums.

The roaring twenties were in full swing Saturday night at Philadelphia's Union League. Hundreds of party goers showed up to support the Alzheimer's Association of the Delaware Valley Inaugural Gatsby Gala.

The event honored Spike Eskin of CBS Sports, who has been a long time supporter of the organization. Other special guests included Kathy Romano of WMMR's Preston and Steve Show, Ms. Delaware International and Brian Quinn of the Philly rock band, Octane.

The Cheers To Beer event at the National Constitution Center on Thursday was the final of three exciting parties held throughout the run of the American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition exhibition, which closes on April 28, 2013. For three hours guests had the opportunity to sample some of the finest local beers and cocktails. Participating breweries and distributors of the suds-filled tasting event included Batch 19, Dock Street Brewing Company, Prism Brewing Company, River Horse Brewing Company, Sly Fox Brewery, Stoudt’s Brewing Company, Triumph Brewing Company, Weyerbacher Brewing Company and Yards Brewing Company. Specialty whiskey cocktails made with Jim Beam Devil’s Cut and Canadian Club Dock No. 57 were also in the mix.

The 2013 Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts held a show-stopping gala last night at the Kimmel Center.

The evening's highlights included speeches from Anne Ewers, CEO of the Kimmel Center, Mayor Michael Nutter and Sidney Kimmel along with performances from the Earth Art Collective and a number of other artistic acts. Lucky guests were able to experience the much talked about time machine and sample cusine by Iron Chef, Jose Garces.

The Philadelphia 76ers' Thaddeus Young hosted the Second Annual Young for Youth Foundation Dinner fundraiser at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in Philadelphia on Monday.

Guests were treated to a variety of delicious foods, cocktails and cheesecake in exchange for their charitable donation to the nonprofit. The Young For Youth Foundation is dedicated to aiding young people improve their education, personal growth and development, health and wellness and athletics. Guests had the opportunity to bid on an array of one-of-a-kind sports items that included signed Sixers, Rocky and Phillies memorabilia.

The facial hair was in full bloom at the second annual East Coast Beard and Mustache Championship, this weekend. Celebrities Andrew W.K. and Liam Wilson joined a bevy of other respectable judges to choose winners of such categories as "Freestyle Beard", "Full Beard Natural", "Donegal", "Chops", "Styled Mustache" and more.
