Brewer's Plate, an annual event featuring delicious beer and food pairings, took place at the Kimmel Center on Sunday, March 9, 2014. Guests enjoyed dishes cooked up by top-notch Philadelphia restaurants including Alla Spina, Varga Bar, White Dog Cafe, and desserts from Night Bakery, Caporgiro and Franklin Fountain.
The party kicked off with a VIP event featuring a contest that pinned seven of Jose Garces' restaurants against each other. "Sausage Showdown: The Best of the Wurst," was a battle for the best tasting and most inventive sausage and beer combination, which was judged by Jose Garces, Ann Karlan, Brent Celek, Marc Summers, Bill Covaleski and Sheena Parveen. All of the proceeds from the event benefited Fair Food, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting Philadelphia's healthy and sustainable local food system.
