Spring was cooperating on Saturday as South Street hosted one of many festivals scheduled that day in Philadelphia. The South Street Headhouse Spring Festival kicked off at 11 a.m. and was held on the famous street, between Front and 8th Streets.

The outdoor celebration featured 90 vendors that included shopping, food vendors, arts and crafts, family-friendly activities, such as face painting, a beer garden and even a Maypole with authentic German Folk dancers, sponsored by Brauhaus Schmitz. Throughout the day there was live music with over 40 bands, each playing as the day went on. Record crowds turned out, as one official estimated 40,000 people were present.
