A deceptive realtor. Stop-work order signs. This story could have ended badly for user "mantrap," but Licenses & Inspections was able to shed some light on the situation:
I called L&I to ask why the condo I was looking at had stop work order signs posted in it. (Of course, the realtor said it was all a misunderstanding and taken care of.) Turns out the place didn't have a certificate of occupancy, despite several units already being sold. L&I was happy to fax me the documents relating to the code violations so I could see what was going on. Had they not been so helpful, I might have gone further toward purchasing a place that had serious, unresolved code violations. It was a little tough to figure out who I needed to talk to at L&I, but once I got through to the people who actually dealt with that project, they were extremely helpful.
Maybe communication is something the department can work on, but from "mantrap" L&I gets a near-perfect four stars. Do you agree?
