How has the city handled the snow?

Did you wait 45 minutes for a bus that was never coming, with nary a word about the cancellation on SEPTA's website?

Did the Streets Department get the thoroughfare near you plowed in a reasonable amount of time?

Did the school district make the right decision to shut down today?

Please bring your complaints, constructive criticism and conversations over to City Howl, our site for citizen feedback about city services.

South Philly was snowy, but hello - this was an apocalyptic snow storm. I live on a bus line, and the bus seemed to be trudging through all of this. Seems like the City has done the best they can do with a tough storm.

I'm watching one of probably 35-40 cars I've seen stuck the last 2 1/2 days trying to make it up my hill. There are 2 hills that, at the bottom of them, converge at the intersection where my apartment is. Why haven't the hills gotten plowed? I watched 2 police cars not be able to make it up them yesterday. It's kinda dangerous to keep haing cars slide down them into the intersection.

Do we live in the same (Center) City? Pine and Spruce and most of cross streets were not plowed at all as of Monday morning, 24h after the snow stopped falling. They were bad bad bad, and snowplow were nowhere in sight.

I have to say to you that not only was I planned for my three day week, I now have to reconsider my objectives for the two day week that remains. Please do not resolve the fact that I'm a "teacher in the public school system" as meaning I have taken my time off lightly, however I have considered the time to mean one where my students can hopefully remaster skills such as the the "ridiculous" standards imposed on them. Again, Amen. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.

About this blog
Every year, city government spends slightly more than $4 billion. Where does all that money come from? More importantly, where does it go? Are we getting the most bang for our tax buck? “It's Our Money” is a joint project between Philadelphia Daily News and WHYY, funded by the William Penn Foundation, designed to answer these questions.
