District Council 33 members react to Nutter's budget

We asked a few people what they thought about Mayor Nutter's budget address, including two members of District Council 33, the blue-collar city workers union.

The city's nonuniformed workers have been without a contract for almost three years. Many union members booed Nutter during his budget proposal today, and D.C. 33 aired ads that claim he "has not kept his word" regarding a fair contract.

Nutter, however, argues that he "cannot sign a contract that does not deal with the long-term employee benefit challenges that threaten this city’s future," according to a prepared copy of his budget address.

About this blog

Are we getting the most bang for our tax buck? “It's Our Money” is a joint project between Philadelphia Daily News and WHYY, funded by the William Penn Foundation, designed to answer these questions.
