Philly Film Fest books for 2012

Hot off of its 20th anniversary October movie marathon, the folks at the Philadelphia Film Festival take their Sharpies to the 2012 calendar. Mark it down: Oct. 18 -28, PFF 21!

They opened with the crowd-pleasing, mood-swinging love story Like Crazy. They closed with the George Clooney destined-for-Oscars The Descendants. And in between, some 35,000 ticket buyers attended over 250 screenings of 145 films from near and far, fiction and non, animated, short-form and epic, as the Philadelphia Film Festival celebrated 20 years of festivaling this past October. Directors, producers and stars that flew in for the occasion – and drove in, trained in, and maybe bicycled in – included Felicity Jones, Mark Duplass, Drake Doremus, Martin Donovan, "Real Rocky" Chuck Wepner, Elmo incarnator Kevin Clash and scores and scores more.

So, now onto next year.  Executive director Andrew Greenblatt, artistic director Michael Lerman and the folks at the Philadelphia Film Society, the group that oversees the fest, have booked Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 as the opening night, and anl the ensuing days right up to Sunday, Oct. 28, for the fete. Put in your vacation slips now! And check on www.filmadelphia.org for more info.
