One Step Away: Happy new year

Hello, everyone. How are you? It feels good to grace the pages of One Step Away after a brief hiatus. As always, I wish to thank those who have shown their support the last few years. Not only to me, but for supporting One Step Away as an organization. I (we) definitely couldn't grow without your support.

So you're probably all wondering why I'm writing an article titled "Happy New Year" in September. Well, that is because on the fifth day of this past August I celebrated 45 years on this earth. Yes. Forty-five years. I was actually dreading this day for quite some time. Yes, dreading the thought of getting yet another year older. When the day finally came and people started wishing me "Happy Birthday" (OK, most of the greetings came through Facebook), as more and more greetings came throughout the day, that's when it started to dawn on me that it was truly the start of a new year.

Not only was I celebrating 45 years lived, but I was given the chance to start another year and make more history to the timeline that is one's life.

So that gives one reason to celebrate. Not to mourn.
