RUN215, Philly Beer Week team up for Hammer of Glory 'almost' 5K

In Philadelphia, running and beer go hand in hand so what better way to kick off the 2015 Philly Beer Week than with a fun run?

That's why Philly Beer Week has teamed up with RUN215 for an official Hammer of Glory (almost!) 5K on Thursday, May 21, followed by a bar crawl. (You didn't see that coming, did you?)

Here's the schedule: Starting at 4 p.m., DiBruno Brothers at the Franklin will host a first taste of PBW's official beer "Leuven On A Prayer" paired with DiBruno cheeses. Then, at 4:50 - 5 p.m., the run will kick off.

RUN215 founder Jon Lyons created the course, which clocks in at 3.08 miles, just shy of the 3.1-mile marker of a 5K (map here).  Runners will work their way up to Girard Avenue in Northern Liberties, ending at Sancho Pistolas, where the bar crawl will commence! Stops at Frankford Hall, Heritage, Jerry's Bar and Johnny Brendas are all in the works.

Lyons says 30 people have already registered for the free event and he expects somewhere around 50 people to show up for the run.

"Our whole group is largely on Facebook, so I'm looking forward to meeting some RUN215ers face-to-face for the first time at this event," said Lyons.

Sign up here, or just show up. Show up wearing a Thor costume to compliment the Hammer of Glory and you're guaranteed to make some friends!
