2016 Philly 10K registration opens May 9

On Monday, May 9 at 10 a.m., registration for the third annual, uber-popular, all-local 10K will open. Last year, the race was capped at 4,500 runners and sold out in less than an hour and a half.

The Philly 10K is back, baby! Mark your calendars for Sunday, August 28. Runners will push off the starting line at 7:30 a.m.

On Monday, May 9 at 10 a.m., registration for the third annual, uber-popular, all-local 10K will open. Last year, the race was capped at 4,500 runners and sold out in less than an hour and a half. For $62 (+$5 processing fee), finishers will receive a free Philadelphia Brewing Company beer and a "Coffee & Donuts" frozen custard by Federal Donuts and Shake Shack.

The 2016 10K will follow last year's course. The race begins at 8th and South Streets and will take runners down 6th Street through South Philly to Snyder Ave. The course then winds through East Passyunk before moving onto Catherine Street and passing through Midtown Village on the way to the finish at 5th and Pine Street. The post-race festival takes up five blocks of prime Washington Square West real estate from 4th to 6th streets at Lombard through Bainbridge.

The first ever Philly 10K was held in 2014 on September 6, It started and ended in the Passyunk Square section of South Philadelphia. The course took runners through multiple neighborhoods that had previously never been raced and passed city landmarks like the Italian Market, St. Augustine Church, and under the Reading Viaduct and Ben Franklin Bridge.
