2015 Love Run: Road closures, parking considerations

This Sunday, March 29, The Love Run will be back in town along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The course route will start and stop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Here is what you need to know if you are heading down to either run, or to cheer on the pack.

This Sunday, March 29, The Love Run will be back in town along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The course route will start and stop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Here is what you need to know if you are heading down to either run, or to cheer on the pack.

Road closures

Streets will be closed in many parts of the city in connection with the Philadelphia Love Run. If driving, you are advised to use alternate routes and to avoid areas along the race course. Be sure to also allow for longer drive times.

The following areas are the most impacted:

  1. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway around Eakins Oval will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. (The inner drives will be closed from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the vicinity near 20th Street and the Parkway will be closed and the Logan Circle area will be restricted to vehicular traffic.)

  2. Citywide along the 13.1 route of the Love Run. See course here.

  3. MLK to Falls Bridge (4:00 am – 12:00 pm)

  4. Sweet Briar (4:00 am – 12:00 pm)

  5. Lansdowne Rd. (4:00 am – 12:00 pm)

  6. East Concourse (4:00 am – 12:00 pm)

  7. East Memorial Drive (4:00 am – 12:00 pm)

  8. Black Road (4:00 am – 12:00 pm)

Parking considerations

Everyone is encouraged to take public transportation to the race. Parking in the Philadelphia Museum of Art area will be very limited, but there are several parking lots and garages conveniently located on or near Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Discount parking coupons for select Central Parking System locations are available at www.philadelphia.centralparking.com.

If you get to the race early enough, you may also find free street parking in and around the race area. The Love Run Half Marathon has no direct relationship with any parking companies.

Public Transportation

SEPTA's Market-Frankford and Broad Street lines as well as their regional rail and bus services can help you move easily throughout the city.

Starting at 8:00am on Sunday, March 29, nineteen SEPTA Bus Routes (2, 4,7, 16, 17, 23, 27, 31, 32, 33, 38, 43, 44, 47, 47M, 48, 61, 125 and 125) will be on detour around the area of the race. Detours are expected to last until noon. Riders are encouraged to consider travel by rail. Trolley Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 make underground stops along Market Street including at 19th and 22nd Streets. The Broad Street and Market Street Lines stop at City Hall/15th Street. Passengers can also take Regional Rail into Jefferson and Suburban Station. Specific line detours are posted on the System Status page at www.septa.org
