Lentil soup only a hit with the adults

Yariza Chacon-Madrid and Elizabeth Alvarado get the stuffed peppers ready during a fall 2016 session of the My Daughter's Kitchen cooking program at the Feltonville School of Arts and Sciences.

Due to scheduling issues we had to combine week 4 and 5. We made the stuffed peppers and lentil soup.  This week involved a lot of chopping but teamwork helped us get it all done. Elizabeth Alvarado noted that she had shared our onion cutting technique with her mom and that she said it made chopping onions easier. Sonya Vong and Nyvia Meas gladly handled grating the cheese so that they could nibble on the extra pieces. While the lentil soup was only a hit with the adults (Ms. Riddick and Ms. McRae saved the leftovers for lunch the next day), the stuffed peppers were more successful. We all agreed that we weren't big fans of peppers on their own but combining them with the turkey and bean filling was delicious. Of course the melted cheese was our favorite part.
