Students try cauliflower for the first time

Leosander Rivas squeezes the lemon juice onto the drumsticks with guidance from Mrs. Kaisha Siner, as Ta'Von Johnson looks on. Students at Catto Elementary made rosemary chicken drumsticks and roasted cauliflower during week 2 of the fall 2016 My Daughter's Kitchen program.

"Onions again?" was the first question asked by Jennifer Ramos-Quinones as we started taking out the ingredients for this weeks meal.  She was quickly reminded how she didn't taste the onions in last weeks veggie pitas.  Students were excited to try something new this week, as everyone, has never had cauliflower before.  The aroma of the rosemary spread throughout the kitchen, making the anticipation of eating the drumsticks increase.  Although the cauliflower was not a favorite to some, everyone tried the dish with no complaints.  Overall, students left with smiling faces as Ta'Von Johnson states, "I'm going to ask my mom if we can make this for dinner tonight."
