Sharing a love of cooking with our families

Briana Williams, Phares Lewis, Amin Irizzary, Desire Torres, Leila Waites, Genesis Rios, and Avieanna Medina gather during the final week of the fall 2016 My Daughter's Kitchen cooking program at LaSalle Academy.

The children were so excited to be cooking for their families today. The science lab was transformed into a dining room and the table looked beautiful and festive for our guests. The children served chicken and broccoli stir fry and carrot cake, and then Sr. Jeanne handed them each a gift card so that over the holiday break, they will cook a meal for their family, write about it in their journals, take pictures of the finished product and then receive a grade for it!

Desire Torres and Avieanna Medina were sad that this was their last cooking class. Genesis Rios thought the experience was great. Phares Lewis wanted to know if next year we could teach the class to the seventh grade instead of sixth. Is that because you will be a seventh grader, Phares? That's the biggest compliment of all!
