The girls were very excited for their first class and were surprised to learn that we were making cake. When we took out the white whole wheat flour Takeira Woods asked "why is this flour a different color?" It was a great opportunity to talk about the difference between white and wheat flour. The girls were pros at cracking the eggs with only a few tiny pieces of shells falling in. When we took the cake out of the oven Solerika Colon was all smiles made the suggestion that almonds would taste good in this cake. We agreed and also came up with a few other healthy substitutions, including apples and peaches.
