Mushrooms, walnuts give Bolognese sauce interesting texture

Namir Flemming, Sabria Reid, Casidhe Pierre, Maimouna Diakite, Jannah Baker, and Troy Kendrick write reflections during week 6 of the fall 2016 My Daughter's Kitchen cooking program at Philadelphia Montessori Charter School.


The student chefs, enjoyed the mushroom Bolognese pasta and the salad.  Jannah Baker enjoyed the texture of the sauce; Nahmir Fleming observed that the walnuts and mushrooms tasted like meat .  Sabria Reid found whole meal delicious!!  Everyone enjoyed the salad but unanimously found it sour from the lemon juice. Teachers agreed. Casideh Pierre though the lemon juice added a grape taste.Maimouna said the meal was tasty but she most enjoyed chopping the walnuts.  Everyone took part in grating, chopping and mixing, with Troy Kendrick in charge of onions. Perhaps the favorite was the grated cheese topping.
