Lilly Billarrial, Rachel Nguyen, Quan Tran, and Carleigh Marsilio prep ingredients for the Mushroom Bolognese recipe that they made during week 6 of the fall 2016 My Daughter's Kitchen cooking program at Visitation BVM school.

Visitation School's young chefs applied their new cooking and organizational skills to create a beautiful main dish-----Mushrooms Bolognese.  As they did in making lentil soup, students started with a mirepoix of vegetables and herbs to create a flavorful base for the ragu or Bolognese sauce. So many new cooking terms and techniques!  For most of the students, mushrooms were a new experience.  Thamthi declared that the meal "was so delicious that I even loved the mushrooms."  Students left excited knowing that next class they would learn to make carrot cake.  Pan-baked or
muffins?  That's something yummy to think about!
