Kale apple salad bitter and sweet

Two of the students liked everything this week, including the fun of massaging the dressed kale to soften it. But the other two only nibbled at their meal. They noted that the kale-apple salad was both bitter and sweet. Maybe it wasn’t sweet enough? Everyone loved the soft whole-wheat pita bread, and all of the pita leftovers went home.
