'I didn’t like the salad but I was eating it to be polite'

Nadya Davis and Daria Williams learn to make tortellini salad during week 2 of the Spring, 2017, My Daughter's Kitchen cooking program at Community Partnership School.

Our 2nd class started with a joke by Nadya Davis:

Nadia: “Knock, knock.”
Us: “Who’s there?”
Nadya: “Lettuce.”
Us: “Lettuce, who?“
Nadya: “Let us go cook!”
And so we did!  Isjeer Lowery was happy because he got to peel and cut, which is his favorite job. The kids all agreed that the salad needed more dressing. Janiya Hale announced, "I never thought I'd like peas!" and commented in her journal that  it "was weird that the cheese was popping out of the pasta.” Crystal Dove wrote, “I didn’t like the salad but I was eating it to be polite.” It was a fun class, whether we loved the meal or not.
