The big day has arrived! After much discussion and compromise, the mini-chefs settled on the Celebration Menu. Rosemary Chicken Drumsticks with a side of Sweet Potato Fries, followed by Carrot Cake Muffins. A meal to please everyone!
The chefs are true professionals at this point. Tiara Harris took over the marinade for the drumsticks. Matthew Scheidler helped her double the ingredients, from lessons in Math class. He then took charge of the drumsticks- rinsing them and arranging them quite nicely in an array of 4 rows of 6…(also from math class, he noted, with a smile).
The Sweet Potato Fries, also a doubled recipe, was going to need a lot of choppers. Joseph Moll, an experienced chopper, realized they must be peeled first. Fadila Sibay and Paullina Ruiz quickly rose to the occasion. They worked like an assembly line, peel, pass, chop, peel, pass, chop… Of course, Paullina needed to taste test the sweet potato…a thumb’s up! Fadila, Paullina, and Tiara (all accomplished measurers) quickly pulled together the marinade for the Sweet Potatoes. Drumsticks, marinade, check! Sweet Potato strips, marinade, check! The prep work is done, into the oven they go!
The muffins were easily pulled together, dry ingredients, wet ingredients, carrots and pineapple in. It was still fresh in their minds from last week! The parents and kids all agreed it was wonderful menu!
