Aromatic minestrone a dish to share with our families

Hunter Elementary students learned to prepare vegetarian minestrone soup during week 3 of the Spring 2017 My Daughter's Kitchen cooking program.

 The girls immediately wanted to know if we were going to use chicken in the soup because they were used to eating chicken noodle soup.  We explained that this soup only had vegetables in it but that, like many soups, there were different variations on what could be added to the original recipe. 

The girls enjoyed all the chopping and Solerika Colon has mastered the rocking technique with the knife.  They were surprised, with all those vegetables, how good the soup smelled while it was simmering on the stove. 

We all agreed the soup was super tasty, Solerika Colon ate two bowls of it and Leribel Rosario-Cruz ate one bowl, with both of them asking to take some home for their family.
